New export engine in QuickScale 3.6

QuickScale 3.6 isn’t available yet but I want to show you something very impressive!

In the previous post, I have written about the possibility for more export engines.
Today, I’ve integrated an export engine that uses the CoreImage-technology and the result is very cool…

The start of this research was a user of QuickScale that complained that QuickScale didn’t resized DNG-files with a high quality. And he had a point! When I saw the result of scaling DNG-files, I was disappointed. That is the reason for the new export engine.

In the table below, you can see the difference in quality of the default scale engine and the new CoreImage-based engine. The differences are very huge and positive!

So, in QuickScale 3.6, it will be possibly to choose an export engine. You can also use the ‘default’ scale engine. The big different is that de ‘default’ uses the CPU (processor) for scaling, and the CoreImage-based uses the GPU (the graphic card). I hope you like this new engine! Notice that this will be a free update for registered users!

What about QuickScale

Behind the screens, Im busy with QuickScale 3.6.
I’m rewriting parts of QuickScale to be able to extend QuickScale much easier. I found also a few bugs in the export-functions, which will be fixed.

At this moment, I’ve rewritten the export-enige to make it easier to support to another rendering engine in the future. Some day I might use for example CoreImage for scaling. In QuickScale 3.6 I’ve created the base of this extensions.

There are also some new features, like the option to add watermarks. It is possible to add a watermark (a formatted text with colors, fonts, etc) and images (for example semi-transparency PNG) to all the scaled images. It will be also be possible to set a margin when you choexose the box-export… and a few more features will be available.

There is still a lot of work in rewriting the base of QuickScale, but QuickScale 3.6 (a free update for al registered users) will be available soon.
